Synopsis

Sir Alec Kirkbride began his service in the Middle East in 1916 as a young soldier. He retired in 1955 after being British Ambassador in Libya . He served in Egypt, Palestine, Jordan, the Hejaz and Syria where he found unusual experiences and adventures Having served under Lawrence, the author went on to become advisor for thirty years to King Abdallah of Jordan, and then became British ambassador to Libya.
