Sultan Bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi (Sharjah 1939-) ruler, politician, historian and writer of the United Arab Emirates is the current ruler of the Emirate of Sharjah since 1972 and a member of the Supreme Federal Council of the United Arab Emirates. He studied at the University of Cairo and later at the University of Exeter. He is the author of several works, including: The Myth of Arab Piracy in the Gulf (1986), The British Occupation of Aden (1990), The Fragmentation of the Omani Empire (1989) and the recent autobiographical book, My Early Life (2009), with English translation in 2011.
