Synopsis

The preface indicates that this work is a selection from “Bahth al-Matalib” by Germanos Farhat, with the aim to simplify the rules of Arabic Grammar for students. Lambrecht 641 and Zenker I, 258 mention the 1832 edition of this book. The 1841 edition was reprinted by the Franciscans in Jerusalem in 1876.
Germanous Farhat was a Syrian philologist and poet, precursor of the literary renaissance in the Arab world and Maronite Archbishop of Aleppo (1725-32).
