Synopsis

A nice album of a cruise on “Le Champollion” to the Orient made by the Belgian Gaston Wyns. Photos taken on board portray games, siesta, masquerade ball, etc. However, the majority of photographs is of the places where disembarkation took place: Tripoli, Alexandria, Cairo, Giza, Saqqara, Jaffa, Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Beirut, Baalbek, Damascus, Istanbul, Bosphorus, Rhodes, Athens, Eleusis, Corfu, Stromboli, Naples, Pompei and Corsica. The album also includes few animated scenes of Arab merchants, a sorcerer, veiled women, a wedding, a funeral, etc.
