Synopsis

Letters written by the Prussian traveller during his tour in the East between August 1813 and December 1815. He spent most of this time in the company of Sir John Maxwell. A year was spent in Italy and six months in the Levant, most of it in Greece. The work contains a number of interesting anecdotes.
The first edition appeared in English in London 1818. A French version was published in Paris the same year. A second English edition appeared in 1820.
