Synopsis

Until 1905, the British Admiralty charts were not precise in describing several locations of the Red Sea coast. This work describes in details the Sudan coast, the social and religious conditions of the peoples residing on the Red Sea coasts. A special reference is given to the daily life, sailors, fishermen and pearl divers. Also Muslim women situation is discussed, together with the corals and coral animals and the special features of Islamic architecture of the area.
