Synopsis

The author’s account of his third crossing of the Sahara over 2000 miles, from Misurata on the coast of Libya to Ford Lamy, 50 miles from Lake Chad. He set out in a jeep which broke down before he had reached the half-way point, leaving him to continue his journey partly by lorry convoy, and partly by camel, alone but for a native guide.
