Synopsis

The origin of the word Eberkasis is Greek and means works. The book is a part of Saint Luke’s gospel, which used to be read daily at the Coptic Orthodox Church in the Coptic language. It was translated into Arabic and used in daily masses in the Greek Orthodox Church when Arabic started to be used in the churches instead of Coptic after 1704; this copy was printed for the Maronite Church and some dates and passages were changed accordingly to follow the Maronite instructions.
