Synopsis

Gaston Wiet, a leading specialist in Islamic art. He worked between 1909 and 1911 with the Institut Français d’Archeologie in Egypt. After the second world war he worked with the French forces in Syria and Lebanon producing several studies on Islamic art in Syria. This work presents in the first part 71 samples of Arabic epigraphy exhibited at the exhibition. The second part presents numerous samples of Egyptian products. Creswell, 779.
