Synopsis

First edition of a collection of reports on Jesuit missions to the Levant. These volumes deal with Crimea, Greece, and Egypt.
First two volumes in a group of nine consecutively published volumes (1715-1755) containing Jesuit letters. Volumes 1 and 2 contain letters of their missions to the Eastern Mediterranean, especially Greece and Egypt. The folding map in volume 1 ‘Partie de Santorin’ shows several islands and an “Isle Nouvelle” consisting of an active volcano. The folding map of Egypt in volume 2 includes a legend listing all the villages on the map in alphabetical order.
