Palestine and Transjordan. B.R 514 Geographical Handbook series.
Naval Intelligence Division.
Synopsis
In 1915, a Geographical Section was formed in the Naval intelligence Division of the Admiralty to Issue Geographical Handbooks on various parts of the world. They were designed to supply material for the discussion of naval, military, and political problems. The present series of handbooks, although inspired by the former series, is not simply a re-edition, it is worked on by trained Geographers working at sub-centres established in Oxford and Cambridge . The books are designed to provide information in a comprehensive form about countries that Commanding Officers may be called upon to visit in times of war or peace. It is also to ensure that the high standard of education within the Navy is maintained and that visits to a new country shall be both interesting and profitable. This volume concerns Palestine, Transjordan and the immediately surrounding area.
