Synopsis

Nissel and Petreius’s edition of the text of the Epistles of St John in Arabic and Ethiopic, each with translations into Latin
“The work contains in addition the Symbolum fidei in Ethiopic, and at the beginning the Ethiopic syllabary. – Between 1654 and 1662, Leiden saw the publishing activities of two inspired scholars from Germany who followed the Erpenian tradition of owning Oriental printing types. The Ethiopian types in use by Nissel and Petraeus derive from Elsevier, who bought them from Erpenius” (Smitskamp).
