Al-Taftazani, Sa’id al-Din.

8vo. 484 pp., Arabic text within borders, modern hard back binding, paper slightly browned, few wormholes affecting the last few pages without loss, margin of last page cut without loss to text, Matba’at Ahmad Kamil, Istanbul, 1330 A. H. / 1911.

Al-Taftazani was a Muslim polymath. He also wrote a commentary on the Qur'an in Persian called "Kashf-al-Asrar". He was active during the reign of Timur, who noticed him as a promising scientist and supported his scholarship, and Al-Taftazani was part of his court. Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani famously remarked about him that "science ended with him in the East" and "no one could ever replace him".
Al-Taftazani composed the bulk of his writing in Arabic. He wrote treaties on grammar, rhetoric, theology, logic, law and Qur’an exegesis. This linguistic work “al-Mutawaal” has been commented on by many scholars.
