Laurie, Rev. Thomas. 1807-1844.

12mo. xii, 418 pp., [4 adverts], engraved frontispiece portrait of Thomas Grant signed, 12 wood engravings of which 9 are hors text and 3 in text, Lacking the map, original brick red cloth decorated & gilt, lightly soiled and rubbed at spine, small tear to rear joint, index, copy clean inside and in very good condition, D. Lothrop & Co., Boston, third revised edition, 1874.

This is an account of Dr. Grant’s work among the Nestorians. Thomas Laurie himself spent 2 or 3 years in Persia and left Mosul in 1844 after Grant’s death when the Mission was suspended. His work also contains interesting accounts of political activity among the Kurds, the Turks, and the Nestorians. He later wrote Mount Lebanon in 1869 and Bible Illustrations in 1870.
