Labourt Jerome (1874-1957) was a Catholic priest, theologian and historian of Christianity. There were two editions of this title, both published in the same year 1904 . This work was the first work to be published in French on the Eastern Church under the Sassanid Dynasty. With this study, his best known work was his complete translation of the correspondence of St. Jerome, valued for its "nerve and malicious wit" and deemed "accurate, and literary in every sense of the word ".
