A study of Islam at the end of the 19th century by a leading French scholar. The work is a documentary based on original sources gathered by the author from pilgrims and participants in the Muslim Conference of Hedjaz. An analysis is given by the author to the religious orders at Hedjaz, the conference of the Ulama, the Muslim religious movement in the 19th century, the Sanussiyyah dogma, the Chazilliyah, and eighteen other Muslim schools of thought.
