Author’s name inscribed on title page, two typed correspondence inserts from Royal Asiatic Society dated 1931 & 1962 respectively and addressed to an H. or R. Loewe, Asiatic Monographs, Vol. III, Royal Asiatic Society, London, 1902.

This study is the first English translation of Hirschfeld’s Beitrage Zur Erklarung Des Koran which appeared first in German in 1886. Hirschfeld tries to identify a largre number of Old Testament Jewish thoughts and expressions in the Qur’an. He reviews approximately 250 parts of the Qur’an more or less extensively and provides a register of the comparative texts from the Qur’an, Old Testaments, the Talmud and the Mishnah.
