The plates in this portfolio originally appeared in the illustrated catalogues of the Loan Collections of Portraits of English Historical Personages, exhibited at Oxford in 1904, 1905 and 1906, and there numbers refers to those catalogues. The Plates are as follows:
1- 14 plates exhibited in 1904.
II- 19 plates exhibited in 1905, missing plate no. 1.
III- 22 plates exhibited in 1906, missing plate no. 13..
