A valuable work in the fields of Medieval history, Islamic studies, and the history of science. The author introduced the use of electronic computers to attempt to recompile Medieval Islamic tables. Edward Stewart Kennedy, was a pioneer in establishing independent research at the American University of Beirut, to study Arab contribution to science. He travelled extensively in the Middle East studying old manuscripts. In 1976 he began an association with the newly founded Institute for The History of Arabic Science at the University of Aleppo.
