An interesting account of travels through the mountains of the Nusairis, where at that time still lived descendants of the Isma'ili sect of Naziris or Assassins which flourished in the 11th/13th centuries. The book includes a detailed description of the Ansayrii, their customs, and way of life, as observed by the author during his sojourn among them. Also descriptions of Asia Minor as far north as Trebizond" (Ghani).
The lithographed portrait is printed on rice paper, the two frontispieces are steel engravings of Rebecca's well at Haran, and the birth place of Abraham.
