Volume I: xl, 323 pp., including "List of works published by the Oriental Translation Committee" pages 320-323, includes poetry quoted in both English and Persian, translated by Francis Cunningham Belfour, original green cloth, lightly soiled and rubbed round edges, scattered spotting on the first few pages, partly untrimmed, pencil note on front fly leaf, subscriber's copy for Henry Preston with specially printed leaf inserted, printed for the Oriental Translation Fund, London, 1830.

Hazin Lahiji, is the pen-name of Mohammad Ali ibn Abi Tāleb ibn Abd Allah, also known as Mohammad Ali ibn Abi Taleb Hazin Lahiji, He was a Persian poet and scholar, born into an eminent family in Isfahan. His ancestors were scholars and landowners from Gilan. In 1734 he emigrated to India where he contributed to the Persianization of the ruling elites. He regarded the Persian of the Indian writers with much contempt. Hazin Lahiji is considered to be one of the most prominent scholars of the Safavid era whose knowledge extended over the theological learning of his time as well as Natural Science, a fact testified by his extant writings.
