Frank Weston was a missionary in Zanzibar. In this study, the author discusses the activities of Weston, and his encounters with the Muslim population of Zanzibar and their relations with Oman. Smith relied on private letters and twenty six volumes of Central Africa and the Annual Reports, and the Church Times.
Weston was as most missionaries working in Africa and Asia, anti Islamic, and considered that Islam was inadequate for the needs of Zanzibar. He admits his failure to impress Moslems.
This work is a clear example of the role missionaries played in what they consider a mission to fight Islam.
