On 29 July 1884 Charles Huber the French explorer and traveller was assassinated in Jeddah. Between the years 1878 and 1882 Huber started his first voyage to Arabia and published the result of his studies in the Bulletin de la Societé de Geographie in Paris. His studies concentrated on his discoveries of the inscription of Tunisia in 1880.
In June 1883 Huber travelled to Arabia on behalf of the Academie des Inscription et Belle Lettres and the French Geographical Society. He started his journey passing through Damascus, Hail, and Jeddah where he met the French Consul Mr De Lostalot. Huber was murdered in 1884 by men followers of Ibn Al Rashid, his guides. Mon Voyage en Arabie is the manuscript left by Huber in which he wrote daily about his travels and discoveries in Arabia.References: Macro Bibliography of the Arabian Peninsula 1219; Henze II, 640-641.
