Synopsis

This study is the first English translation of Hirschfeld’s Beitrage Zur Erklarung Des Koran which appeared first in German in 1886. Hirschfeld tries to identify a largre number of Old Testament Jewish thoughts and expressions in the Qur’an. He reviews approximately 250 parts of the Qur’an more or less extensively and provides a register of the comparative texts from the Qur’an, Old Testaments, the Talmud and the Mishnah.
