Synopsis

Paul Keppler (1852-1926), a German bishop who lectured since 1883 at the Catholic-theological faculty at Tubingen. He was extremely productive as a writer. This is an account of a journey he made in 1892 to Egypt, Palestine, Lebanon, Cyprus and Greece. Contemporary photographs taken by leading 19th century photographers in the Middle East are used as illustrations for this work.
