Synopsis

David Samuel Margoliouth (1858-1940), was an English Orientalist. He was briefly active as a priest in the Church of England. He was Laudian Professor of Arabic at the University of Oxford from 1889 to 1937.
The John Rylands Library in Manchester holds a collection of 800 papyri derived from the Crawford Collection and consists of private letters, tradesmen’s and household accounts, among other records. Most of the dated papyri date to the 3rd/9th century.
