Synopsis

Jacques Mislin ( 1807 – 1878) , a French Catholic priest, and a member of several French academic societies started his journey east in June 1848. This is an account of his observation during that trip which led him to several Levant countries. This book was prefaced by letters from Pope Pius IX, and Alexander Dumas. The author displays his hatred of Protestant missionaries in the East and calls them “bagmen.” [Hilmy II, 36.]
