Synopsis

The author left Calcutta and started writing on daily basis a journal covering the occurrences during her journey back to Europe, She describes her arrival to Bab al Mandeb, a chapter is dedicated to the Yemeni city on the Red Sea coast Mocha, she crossed the Red Sea towards Egypt sailing the Nile and visiting the Egyptian temples. Later she visited Cairo, Alexandria, Malta, Salerno, Pompei, Naples and back to England. in the last chapter she discusses the “Destruction of early illusions by Mr. Niebuhr, and the defacement of the Public Monuments in Egypt”.
