There was a Heft IV (issue 4 of Studien in Arabischen) in 1897, which contained some parallels to the Old testament from old Arabic writers. [The American Journal of Theology, Vol. 1, No. 4, Oct. 1897, p. 1104].
Georg Jacob was an Islamic scholar and orientalist. He founded the modern Turkish studies in Germany. Jacob studied Arabic geography and resided at the University of Greifswald in 1892. In 1896 he was an associate professor to the Friedrich-Alexander-University of Erlangen.
In 1911 he joined the Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel and was appointed as the Chair of Oriental Studies. His predecessor was Georg Hoffmann (orientalist) (1845-1933). 1922-23 he became rector of the CAU. His publications include comprehensive works on the history of the shadow theatre .
Jacob was the first translator and editor of modern Turkish literature in German speaking countries, including the Turkish Library .
