Synopsis

Dr Khalil Saadeh (1857-1934) lived most of his life in exile in Egypt and South America; he was one of the most prominent Syrian renaissance thinkers of the late 19th – early 20th century. Saadeh graduated in 1883 from the American University of Beirut as a medical doctor. He published in 1883 with two other colleagues the first medical journal in Arabic ” Al-Tabib”, and he published several books in Cairo, São Paulo and Argentina.
