Synopsis

Preface by Harry St. John Philby and foreword by G. Ryckmans. Lippens (1910-89), a young Belgian officer, participated in the United Nations mission in Palestine in late 1940s and was among the discoverers of the Dead Sea Scrolls in 1949. He embarked on an archaeological expedition to Central Arabia in 1951 and to Qumran in 1953. In Arabia he visited Jeddah, Mecca, Taif, Bisha, Abha, Najran, Qarya, and Riyadh. Among his companions during his travels in Arabia was Harry St. John Philby.
