Synopsis

At the outbreak of the Second World War, Gayot was mobilised in September 1939. He was promoted to lieutenant in the regiment of Senegalese riflemen. He was involved in the activities of the French resistance against the Germans.
In 1949, he left Germany for Morocco, where he was appointed Inspector of Technical Education, then Inspector General of Arts and Education. In 1958, he received the Grand Prix of Morocco for his many books and research on Moroccan art.
He published several works on Islamic arts in Morocco including “Leather Arts in Morocco”, 1957 and “Embroidery at Fez”, 1959.
