A unique collection of images depicting the 6th Battalion The Hampshire Regiment and local scenes in India. A set of 97 silver gelatin prints pasted to period album pages which have subsequently been mounted to brown board (15), images sizes ranging from the smallest 40 x 60 mm (or the reverse), largest 210 x 29. mm (or the reverse), many pages with handwritten captions relating to locations and subjects; subjects include group portraits of the regiment, daily camp life, training and military exercises, views of Agra, Kalka, Lucknow, Nainital; one group portrait taken by B. Durab studio, Agra. The 6th (Duke of Connaught's Own) Battalion, Hampshire Regiment arrived in India in November 1914. In September 1917, the regiment landed in Basra and remained in the region for the rest of the war, attached to 52nd Brigade, 17th Indian Division.
