Synopsis

The book is a pictorial biography of Antoun Saadeh (1904-1949). It is divided into thirteen chapters profusely documented with photographs and documents. It describes his life and childhood in Mount Lebanon during the First World War, and the famine that ended the life of thousands. Chapter two discusses his activities in Brazil working with guidance of his father Khalil Saadeh, one of the leading figures in Syrian modernism. Chapter three presents his adventure in establishing the Syrian Nationalist Party and his arrests three times by the French colonial authorities. The other chapters covers his travel to Europe, Brazil and his forced exile in Argentina. The book ends with his return to Lebanon and the immediate warrant arrest against him. A chapter describes events and conspiracies against him and his party and his execution by the Lebanese authorities in 8 July 1949. This is a Heavy Book and stored at our warehouse outside the UK.
