Synopsis

André Raymond a French scholar who worked at the Institut Français de Damas between (1954 – 1955), and later at Cairo (1955 – 1957). In 1967 he became the director of the Institut Français de Damas until 1975. This work is a Doctorate thesis which he presented in 1972. Raymond discusses the works of artists, craftsmen, and commercial personalities at Cairo in the 18th century. [Creswell 274].
