Synopsis

This work was published for the first time by Edwin Vaughan & Co in London, 1898. The late 19th century saw a flurry of interest in the character of Julius Caesar in both scholarly and literary circles. Historians in Germany, France and the united Kingdom embarked on a re-evaluation of the historical relevance of the Roman General and his place in Roman history. Fiction writers joined the fray with a multitude of imaginative narratives capitalising on the appeal of the romance and drama that linked the Roman General with the exotic queen Cleopatra.
A young physician Kahlil Saadeh from Shuweir in Mount Lebanon put his own mark on the subject in this historical novel.
