Synopsis
Ajbar Machmuâ. Al-Andalus -Vol. I full title: “Akhbar Majmouat fi Fatih al-Andalus Wa Zikr Umara’iha Rahimahum Allah Wal Hurub Al- Waki’a Baynahum”, was written by an unknown author, who is believed to be a contemporary of Caliph Abdul-Rahman III al- Nasir li Din. The book is a collection of information recorded by different authors. The author collated the stories moving away from myths that were common in most books written in the Middle Ages.
This is the first published edition in Spanish edited and translated by the Spanish Orientalist E. Lafuente from a unique manuscript preserved in the National Library in Paris, and it was also studied by other orientalists, such as R. Dozy and Sanchez Albornoz, who studied in great detail the origin of the book, its author, its material, and its impact on writing history in Andalusia, as well as making comparisons between the book and other Arab historians writings on Islamic Spain.
