Synopsis

Second edition, the first edition appeared in 4to in 1735. There is another issue of this second edition with the imprint ‘À La Haye, chez Isaac Beauregard’. This issue is identical to the Paris edition, ornaments and all, with the exception of the imprint. The plates include a map of Upper Egypt, Cleopatra’s Needle, the Pompey’s Column and a plan of the great Pyramid.
Le Mascrier (1697-1760) was a French clergyman and author. He wrote several books covering different aspects of ancient Egypt.
