Synopsis

Claude-Charles de Peyssonnel was a French diplomat and writer and served as a French Consul in Smyrna and Crimea. In 1782 he retired and settled in Paris, where he published several books from observations he had made during his stay of almost 35 years in the Ottoman Empire.
