Synopsis
This is a collective work – gathering the contributions of twenty-seven authors. The studies presented concern the two neighboring sites of Ras Shamra and Ras Ibn Hani, located on the Syrian coast a few kilometers north of the city of Lattakia. The first part contains fifteen texts relating to research carried out within the framework of the Ras Shamra – Uugarit Syrian – French Archaeological Mission (French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Directorate General of Antiquities and Museums of Syria). The results relate mainly to the Bronze age and, mostly, to the recent Bronze period. They concern, on the one hand, field work (studies of several structures and hydraulic installations, analyzes of construction techniques) and, on the other hand, studies of archaeological and epigraphic material, with the presentation of unedited pieces , From the excavations in progress as well as from the ancient exploration of the tell of Ras Shamra and the site of Minet el-Beida. In a second part, four articles deal with Ras Ibn Hani. The first presents the results of a survey conducted in Ibn Hani in 1987, which highlighted an occupation of the old Bronze in the area. Then, three preliminary reports relating to the excavation campaign carried out in 2011 by the General Directorate of Antiquities and Museums of Syria at the site of Ras Ibn Hani bring new data on the occupation of this sector from the recent Bronze Age The Byzantine period.
