Synopsis

First and only edition. Printed for private circulation only, for the benefit of the Ladies’ Hibernian Female Society. These extracts are from Lady Francis’s diary, originally intended for friends. Lord and Lady Francis spent the winter and spring of 1839-40 travelling in the Mediterranean, mostly abroad Lord Francis’s own yacht. The fruits of this tour was this work, and another collection of lithographic plate views of Palestine and Lebanon (c. 1845). Lord Egerton wrote Mediterranean Sketches (1843).
