Synopsis

Izz ad-Din Ibn Abdul Salam was born in Damascus in 1182. He received his education in Islamic sciences under such famous scholars as Ibn Asakir. He was appointed to the position of head lecturer at Zawiyah al-Ghazaliyah school in his native city, as well as the imam of the Umayyad Mosque. he travelled to Egypt providing advice to the Mamluk Sultan Muzaffar al-Qutuz, who according to Izz al-Din advice started fighting the Tartars which led to the battle of Ain Jalut. Izz al-Din is known in the Islamic world as a Mujtahid.
