Synopsis

Edgar Blochet a leading French specialist in Islamic manuscripts. He contributed numerous studies and bibliographies of the Arabic, Persian, and Turkish manuscripts kept at the Bibliothéque Nationale de Paris. He also translated several works from Arabic into French, such as History of Aleppo by Ibn al-Nadim, and History of Egypt by al-Makrizi. This is a study of Islamic paintings as depicted in manuscripts in Arabic, Persian, and Chinese.
