Synopsis
First edition was published in 1745. Goddard was a dramatist who also wrote Il Califfo di Bagdad. His Godard Aucout in turn gives its contribution to this curious literary and artistic genre with the story of a Turkish landing in Paris with his beloved slave and confronted the Parisian gallant manners. The first part of the novel is told in the first person, and therefore the restrictive view of a Turkish prince, he is not without humour and Personals situations, the first hundred pages telling the passionate love of the narrator in Turkey under the form of oriental tale. The second part is an exchange of letters between the narrator and one of his slaves, the latter tale is the story of his love.
