Booklet One: Dim. 17.5 x 22 cm; Sketchbook including 40 preparatory water-colour drawings representing cities and alleys in the Middle East, gardens, characters, sailors and horses, some of them located in Beirut as per Mr Romain’s annotations; some are on double pages, soft covers thin papered drawing booklet, missing it’s back cover, covers frail and soiled but the sketches are in very good condition, dated 1922 / Booklet 2: loose water colours, 60 in total - 15 on thick card, measuring approximately 23 x 31 cm; plus another 45 of different sizes, some drawn on both sides, mostly on thick card, a few on paper, depicting various aspects of daily life in the Middle East, located in Baalbak, Syria, Beirut, Hamra, Mreisseh, etc... according to annotations and signature of Mr Romain, housed in a green carton folder, dated 1921- 1922 .
