Synopsis

First edition of the lavishly illustrated publication. An expert on Islamic architecture, Albert Gabriel arrived in Turkey in 1926. Gabriel was a professor at the Universities of Strasbourg and Istanbul, and in 1930, he became the first director of the Institut Français d’archéologie in Istanbul, preparing the current work and similar reports for the protection of historic buildings. His richly illustrated documentation of historical monuments in Anatolia describes monuments in Kayseri-Nigde, Amasya, Tokat and Sivas.
