Synopsis

A collection of 108 articles by Louis Massignon presented by Youakim Moubarac. Volume one consists of 49 articles under three major headlines. The first is entitled “Islam in general and Islamic culture”. The second ” Islamic sociology and sociography”. The third ” Shi’ite Islam and the Persians”. The second volume deals mainly with Islamic philosophy and mysticism. It is divided into three parts. The first consists of 18 studies by Massignon of al-Hallaj the famous mystical poet. The second consists of 16 articles entitled ” Other authors and mystical subjects”. The third consists of 25 articles gathered under the title ” Language, thought, grammar and theology”.
