Synopsis

Stanley Edward Lane-Poole (1854-1931), Orientalist and historian. He published several works covering wide range of Islamic history and art from Spain to India.
Between 1895 and 1897 Lane-Poole was engaged in archaeological research for the Egyptian government. He was a member of the Commission working for the preservation of monuments of Arab art.
This work discusses various aspects of Islamic art, which according to him: “…The style was developed and brought to perfection in the Middle ages.”This work covers stone and plaster, mosaics, woodworking, ivory, metalwork, and glass.
