Synopsis

Garabed Krikorian (1847-1918), an Armenian photographer who studied photography at the Armenian Convent of St. James in Jerusalem. In 1885, he opened a photographic studio in Jerusalem. He took may portraits in his studio and covered the visit of the German Emperor William II to the Holy Land in 1898. He trained the photographer Khalil Raad, who opened a rival studio in the 1890s and became the first Arab photographer in Palestine to gain renown across the country.
