Synopsis

This edition is limited to 500 copies, of which numbers 1-30 are bound in full morocco, numbers 31-500 in quarter morocco. This copy is numbered 132 in pencil.
Somerset de Chair (1911-1995) was an English author, politician, poet and an Intelligence Officer with “Kingcol”, a Flying Column. He was sent with his column from Palestine to Baghdad to deal with the effects of the “Golden Square” coup amongst nationalist Iraqi military officers. Their operation was a complete success with Baghdad falling on 30 May 1941. The book covers this mission and subsequent operations in Syria.
